LOUISVILLE — “Racial Justice Resources,” what is for now a one-page list of resources to help bring about racial justice in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the wider world, is now available. Click here to view what’s currently offered. The list of resources will grow as more resources are developed.
Resources are arranged in six categories: Statements from the PC(USA); Worship Resources; Policy Statements; Recommended Books; Study, Training and Discussion Materials; and Articles.
Among the resources are statements by and articles about the Rev. Dr. J. Herbert Nelson, II, the Stated Clerk of the General Assembly of the PC(USA), as well as the Rev. Dr. Diane Moffett, president and executive director of the Presbyterian Mission Agency. You’ll also find statements by mid council and other church leaders.
Worship resources come in many forms, including videos and printed material. Here you’ll find “This Is My Song,” a Peacemaking Virtual Choir project, as well as “We Stand Arm in Arm,” a video prayer from the Synod of the Northeast.
Policy statements include The Belhar Confession and a companion study guide and “Facing Racism: A Vision of the Intercultural Community,” approved by the 222nd General Assembly, as well as its accompanying study guide.
Recommended books include a children’s book by Paul Stewart and Jane Porter published last year by Flyaway Books, “Brian the Brave,” and Kerry Connelly’s book published in March by Westminster John Knox Press, “Good White Racist? Confronting Your Role in Racial Injustice.”
More than a dozen study, training and discussion materials are referenced, including selected resources on dismantling structural resources from the Matthew 25 website. Other resources come from The Thoughtful Christian, such as “White Privilege,” a one-session adult study with a handout for participants and a guide for the leader, and “Responding to Racism,” a one session youth study with a participant’s handout and a guide for the leader.
The Articles section has news stories from PC(USA) news services and other sources, including Unbound, a publication of the Advisory Committee on Social Witness Policy.
